I WON’T RUSH STRAIGHT BACK

-

I WILL be out of this quarantine at the weekend but the IPL game against Sunrisers Hyderabad on Sunday is just a little too soon.

I will not have bowled for 10 days, so I need to get a couple of proper training sessions under my belt before I look to play against Delhi on the 14th.

The last thing I want to do is run a high risk of injury in my first game back for Rajasthan Royals and then miss more matches.

I’ve got a bike and a treadmill in my hotel room, which is a pretty sweet set- up, along with decent WiFi for my Call of Duty games with team- mates on the Xbox.

When I was in a two- week quarantine in Auckland, I had a small room with a window that didn’t open and I had to use two hoodies as curtains, although the sun still streamed through at 6.45am every day.

The WiFi wasn’t great either but, thankfully, Vodafone NZ came to my rescue with a 4G device, which made the remaining 10 days much more enjoyable. The staff at the hotel were superb and the whole process was managed brilliantly by the NZ military, although I almost came a cropper.

To keep up my training I was allowed to run in the hotel car park, but it was only 220 steps long and on a slope.

Doing my 5km was the most boring training of my life and I got a sore ankle. Thankfully, it cleared up after a few days.
