Thunder set to power to glory

- By The Scout ( Chris Goulding)

THUNDER MOON, favourite for next year’s 2,000 Guineas, can further enhance his claims for the classic by taking today’s Darley Dewhurst Stakes at Newmarket.

Unbeaten in his two outings, the Joseph O’Brien- trained

THUNDER MOON

( 2.55, nap) overcame a lack of room in the closing stages of National Stakes at the Curragh last month when slamming Wembley and St Mark’s Basilica.

That form was also highlighted by the fourth home, Master Of The Seas, an impressive winner on his previous start at Newmarket in July.

Following a sparkling gallop, the Richard Hannon- trained Chindit has attracted a weight of support. He has some smart form in the book, beating Albasheer at Doncaster.

But I was more taken by the performance of his stable mate Etonian when he won at Sandown and he’s the each- way value at 14- 1.

In the opener, FABILIS ( 1.45) can make it three wins on the bounce as he is progressing well and will relish this longer trip.

ONE RULER

( 2.20, nb) was unfortunate not to retain his unbeaten record when hampered on his latest outing but he was still not disgraced when third behind the smart New Mandate at Doncaster.

The handicapper has given GREAT WHITE SHARK ( 3.35) a chance to make up for his unfortunate experience in last year’s Cesarewitch.

The gelding, who runs off a 3lb lower mark today, unseated his rider going to the start and was denied a clear run when 10th behind his stable companion Stratum.

Significantly, Jason Watson, in Stratum’s saddle last year, takes the ride on Great White Shark.

At York, LEGAL

ATTACK ( 2.00, treble) appeals as the banker on the card.

The colt was not disgraced in better company when runner up behind the smart Plainchant at Chantilly.

With four impressive victories under his belt, ILARAAB ( 2.35) gives the impression there is still more to come after slamming Royal Marine at Newbury last month.

Ayr Gold Cup third MR LUPTON ( 3.10) can overcome his welter burden by taking the Coral Sprint

Handicap.
