Orange and red alert as autumn
THESE trees leave behind a gorgeous memory... as heavy rain and blustery winds make their way to the UK.
Yesterday’s blast of sunshine had nature lovers of all ages heading to the Royal Horticultural Society’s Wisley Garden in Surrey.
From Monday the charity is celebrating Autumn Colour Week – but you may want to make the most of the season before then, as that’s when the bad weather moves in.
The Met Office’s Aidan McGivern said: “For much of next week low pressure will bring rain and wind. [ But] it will be technically milder.
“I say technically because it won’t feel particularly pleasant.”
He spoke as the Met Office confirmed that October 3 was the wettest day since records began in 1891.
An average of 31.7mm ( 1.25ins) of rain fell across the UK, beating the previous record of 29.8mm ( 1.17in) from August 25, 1986.
