Double helpings ... Britain’s oldest twins’ timeless cookery top tips

BRITAIN’s oldest identical twins are sharing their top cooking tips – using a combined 192 years of experience.

Lil Cox and Doris Hobday, 96, won the nation’s hearts after appearing on ITV’s This Morning.

The pair, well known for their cheeky sense of humour, had been shielding before their birthdays in July and requested a trip to the local Asda in Tipton, West Midlands, as their present.

And to meet with hunky English actor Jason Statham.

Now the grocery chain has asked them to share some top tips with customers who tap into the supermarke­t’s Instagram account.

Lil, who has 13 grandchild­ren and 19 great grandchild­ren, lives next to Doris in warden- assisted accommodat­ion.

She said they have been preparing

food on a budget for half a century. “The younger members of our family have been after our cooking tips for years,” she added. “After living through a world war and juggling all that life throws at you, we also know a thing or two about stretching a budget.”

And a tip from the top? Use an uncooked potato to absorb the salt when you have accidental­ly over- seasoned your casserole or soup.
