BOOTS SALES SLIP DESPITE ONLINE BOOST
BOOTS has revealed that sales slipped 16.7 per cent over the three months to August 31, despite being boosted by online growth.
Like- for- like retail sales fell by 29.2 per cent as store footfall continued to “significantly reduce” due to the pandemic. Nevertheless, it said this highlighted an improvement in footfall from the previous quarter, when
retail sales were 48 per cent lower as a result of store closures.
Boots reported the slump in sales as parent Walgreen Boots Alliance said its international pharmacy retail division, which includes the UK chain, posted a $ 132million (£ 102million) operating deficit, which it said was primarily driven by UK losses.
