I FEEL LIKE I’VE FAILED MY HUSBAND

- By Giles Sheldrick

RETIRED dementia ward manager Jenny Davies has only seen her husband Meiron once since March.

She was granted a

15- minute indoor visit at Hollins Park Care Centre in Neath, South Wales, on September 6 – their 29th wedding anniversary.

Former engineer Meiron, 78, has lived at the home for two and a half years after Jenny, 70, struggled to look after him at home.

Before he went into the care home he told his wife to remember “if anything happens, I love you”.

Jenny said: “I told him I would always look after him and he said, ‘ I know – I trust you’. I feel like I have failed

him because if that was me inside there he would be knocking down doors.

“Lockdown or no lockdown there really needs to be specific instructions on visiting given to care homes.

“Someone is going to have to be accountable for the damage being done to our relatives mentally, physically and emotionally.”
