Grandad without meds for 9 months
RAY Dawson feels abandoned by health professionals after getting no medication for a severe lung condition for the past nine months.
The grandad, 69, said the NHS was now the “National Covid Service” – forgetting those who are alone and seriously ill with chronic conditions.
Before lockdown Ray, whose daughter and grandson live in Mexico, got regular medication for hypersensitivity pneumonitis, which leaves him short of breath and in constant pain.
Since lockdown he says numerous appointments at Swindon’s Great Western Hospital have been cancelled, meaning no medication.
Ray, from Malmesbury, Wilts, said: “They just send a text, it’s like no one cares.
“All my appointments have been cancelled. No blood tests, no lung function tests, no consultations and no medication. I feel abandoned.
“My condition is way down a list of medical problems, far behind cancer and heart disease, which are also way down the priority list.”
Ray was due to be put on new medication after an adverse reaction to a previous drug in February.
His daughter Lora Linares said: “I think it is disgusting how treatment seems to have been forgotten about for many.”
