The Thirst Reich... Hitler’s bar for sale

- By Len Read

A BIZARRE bar from Adolf Hitler’s private yacht is set to fetch £ 194,000 at auction.

The futuristic piece, representing the dictator’s global ambitions, and a set of five stools will go under the hammer this month.

It was salvaged from the Nazi leader’s 377ft vessel the Aviso Grille when it was scrapped.

The Fuhrer used the yacht to entertain guests and foreign dignitaries, including Italy’s fascist leader Benito Mussolini.

The bar and stools have remained untouched in a home in rural Maryland for 70 years.

They were kept by the son of the original buyer, who installed the bar in his basement as a curiosity piece.

The bar set will be sold on October 29 by the Maryland- based Alexander Historical Auctions in the US as part of their Historical Militaria and Autographs sale.

A spokesman said: “The bar resembles the world which Hitler hoped to conquer. It is one of the most fascinating Hitler relics ever offered.”
