Watt a green future could be in store for flying.
EasyJet partner Wright Electric has just been chosen by the US Energy Department to support the development of propulsion systems for electric aircraft.
The firm has already released concepts for a 186- seater electric airliner. It could cover around half of easyJet’s current network.
David Morgan, director of flight operations at easyJet, said: “We remain absolutely committed to more sustainable flying and we know that technology is where the answer lies for the industry.”

The five- star Sunway Resort Hotel & Spa in Kuala Lumpur is undergoing a massive transformation in time for its March reopening. Sustainability is at the heart of the project.
Plans include a vertical farm for restaurant ingredients.
There will also be contactless check- in, energy- saving air conditioning and ‘ smart curtains’ to cool rooms – as well as solar panels, motion- sensor LED lights and advanced water technology. sunwayhotels
