Pubs shut? Let’s have a street party...

-

THE tough new lockdown restrictions didn’t stop these revellers from partying on the streets after pubs were forced to close at 10pm.

People poured out of premises in Manchester, Leeds and London, which are all in the Government’s Tier 2 of measures.

This means people should stay 2m apart from those not in their household if they can – and not meet in groups larger than six.

Despite the crowds, hospitality businesses reported thousands of cancelled bookings in Tier 2 regions because people cannot have dinner or drinks in indoor venues with friends or family outside their household.

However, undeterred drinkers met outside and sat on tables in the street despite the chilly weather.

Meanwhile, police revealed that the organiser of an illegal rave had been slapped with a £ 10,000 fine.

Officers were called to an industrial unit at Phoenix Park in Walsall on September 14 following reports of loud music.

Police body- cam footage shows the metal gates being slammed on officers as they arrived.

Some party- goers jumped over a wall to get away. Others fled from the scene laughing and cheering.

West Midlands Police said: “We hope the fine will deter others from holding similar events.”
