Player’s goal must include assist from absent fathers

I CANNOT praise Manchester United and England footballer Marcus Rashford MBE highly enough for his campaign to provide free school meals to children in need during all school holidays (“Rashford school meal bid rejected”, October 16).

Perhaps he, or the Government, could also highlight absent fathers who contribute to this sad situation by leaving many women struggling to provide for children on their own. Families need fathers, both financially and emotionally.
