Fletcher credits his French connection
STEVEN FLETCHER credits a stint in Marseille for changing his game after scoring in Stoke’s 2- 0 victory over Luton.
The Scot, below, says the loan spell in France in 2016 improved him.
“It opened my eyes to a different way of playing,” he said.
“I was used to people saying I just was a target man who chased his own flick- ons, but there I got used to actually playing football.”
Ivan Toney struck twice in Brentford’s 2- 0 victory over Coventry as he again made replacing Ollie Watkins look easy.
“No pressure on me then – being brought in to replace Ollie, a man who got 25 goals last season,” quipped Toney.
“But there’s a lot of quality here and I know they can find me.”
