ROY STILL SATISFIED

-

ROY HODGSON defended his attackers after Crystal Palace made history for the wrong reasons.

Palace became the first Premier League club since Opta’s statistical records began to have a penalty as their only shot on target.

But Hodgson said: “I’m very satisfied with what I saw from the team and bitterly disappointed we didn’t get it through to the end.

“We came so close to taking the glittering prize, but we were robbed of it right at the very end.

“But we weren’t robbed of the result because, in the second half in particular, Brighton asked a lot of questions about our defence.

“I’m proud of our defence because they answered those questions until the last three or four minutes.

“But maybe we were slightly guilty of protecting our lead.”
