Woke BBC says ‘ fisherpeople’
RADIO 4 listeners were left coughing up their cornflakes after the BBC’s Europe Editor referred to “fisherpeople”.
Katya Adler coined the woke term in a report on Brexit trade talks on the Today programme.
Ashley Mullenger, who calls herself a “female fisherman”, said she only knows of six women doing her job.
Ashley, from Wells- next- thesea, Norfolk, said: “I don’t see the issue with being called a fisherman even if you’re a female.”
TV host Piers Morgan stormed that being “rough and tough in the North Sea” in January is “not up there on the to- do list of the equality brigade”.
Men account for 97.3 per cent of people working on trawlers.
