Cookery: MasterChef: The Profession­als, BBC1, 9pm

Four more profession­al chefs in the shape of Jabari, Ash, Santosh and Ross ( left) arrive from across the nation to compete, first taking on the infamous Skills Test and recreating dishes set by Marcus Wareing and Monica Galetti. The first two chefs must French trim a rack of lamb and cook a portion served with a mint pesto, with the second pair of competitor­s asked to fillet a plaice and cook one portion, and serve with a chicken butter sauce and pickled radish. In the second round, the four chefs must impress the judges with two stand- out signature dishes of their own creation, before two of the competitor­s are sent home.

Film: The Post, Film4, 9pm

In 1971, an American military analyst uncovers the depths of the US Government’s deceptions about the futility of the Vietnam War and takes action by copying documents that would become the Pentagon Papers. Washington Post owner Kay Graham and her editor Ben Bradlee discover The New York Times is preparing an expose on those papers and set out to publish them first. Fact- based drama, starring Meryl Streep and Tom Hanks ( left), Sarah Paulson and Bob Odenkirk.

Reality: First Dates, Channel 4, 10pm

A look back at previous first dates that did not go smoothly, including make- up artist Demi’s awkward meeting with 29- year- old Danny, and retired NHS counsellor Elaine’s date with music producer Steve, which appeared to be going well until it came to settling the bill. Plus, a look back at Disney superfans James and Jess’s date, with all hopefuls, as ever, watched over by maitre ’ d Fred Sirieix ( above).

Nature: Sarah Beeny’s New Life In The Country, Channel 4, 8pm

Following Sarah Beeny and her family ( above) as they relocate from London to Somerset, renovating a semi- derelict former dairy farm into their dream family home. In the second episode, Sarah and her husband Graham await news from the local council, while the family get to work planting 1,000 young trees they have bought to improve the biodiversi­ty on the farm.

Soap: Emmerdale, ITV, 7pm

Cain ( Jeff Hordley, right) listens to Chas at the hospital as she says the Dingles must exact revenge on Jamie for the suffering he’s inflicted on poor Belle. Elsewhere, at Butler’s, Moira is left in pieces when she receives her decree nisi and finally breaks down in front of business partner Rhona. Meanwhile, Jamie instructs bodyguard Mackenzie to get Will up to Home Farm but this leaves Mackenzie suspicious of his intentions. What’s he up to?
