Haller hoping for a change in fortunes

- By Tony Banks

SEBASTIEN HALLER says he needs time, luck and the “right balance” to become a force for West Ham.

The Ivory Coast striker has struggled since arriving in 2019 from Eintracht Frankfurt for a £ 45million fee.

But he has found his feet this month after scoring his first goal for his adopted country against Madagascar and then netting a scorcher in the 1- 0 win at Sheffield United on Sunday.

Haller said: “It’s a matter of confidence and trying to build things around me. It’s not that easy, we’re all different. You need to find the right balance.

“Sometimes it needs more time, or a bit of luck, or small details to make things good. The only thing I can do is get back to work, get help from my team- mates and score goals.

“Scoring my first goal for Ivory Coast in my first game was a nice feeling. To get the goal at Sheffield United after those weeks was special.

“I was also happy to see that all my teammates and everyone around was happy for me too.”
