BAD STAND ON SUAREZ

-

JORDAN HENDERSON regrets wearing a T- shirt in support of Luis Suarez after the Uruguayan racially abused Patrice Evra in 2011.

The Anfield incident happened in the same year that Anton Ferdinand was abused by John Terry.

Liverpool, then managed by Sir Kenny Dalglish, showed their support for Suarez in the warm- up for a game at Wigan that December after the forward had been given an eight- game ban by the FA.

Speaking in Monday night’s Football, Racism and Me documentary, Liverpool midfielder Henderson, 30, who had played with Ferdinand at Sunderland, said: “I was a young player. It was something I’d never experienced.

“Looking back at it now I am not sure the club dealt with it in the best way. We thought about Luis but we didn’t think about protecting Patrice.

“If people want to point me out then I’ll take that. People will say it’s a bit late but better late than never.”
