JOAO RESCUES READING

-

LUCAS JOAO salvaged a point for Reading to stop the rot after four straight league defeats with a 1- 1 draw at Millwall.

Portuguese forward Joao, below, struck his 11th goal of the campaign for the early- season pacesetters eight minutes after half- time following Jed Wallace’s magnificent first- half free- kick opener for the Lions.

Tyler Walker took advantage of a terrible mix- up to give Coventry a 1- 0 win over Cardiff.

When Joe Ralls’ back- pass fell short, Walker got in ahead of Sean Morrison before the clipping the ball in over Cardiff keeper Alex Smithies for his second goal in three games.

Swansea star Andre Ayew came off the bench to deny Tony Pulis a first victory as Sheffield Wednesday manager in a 1- 1 draw.

Ayew weaved his magic to level the scores after Adam Reach netted a first- half goal. Vladimir Ivic’s new- look Watford, who had three players self- isolating having tested positive for Covid- 19, more than held their own at Bristol City in a goalless draw.
