GIROUD TO BATTLE ON

OLIVIER GIROUD insists he will fight for his place on the pitch and make the most of every moment.

The 34- year- old France striker again showed how valuable he is to Chelsea, with his stoppagetime goal easing them into the last 16 of the Champions League on Tuesday with a 2- 1 victory at Rennes.

Chelsea boss Frank Lampard, who has given him just 127 minutes of action this season, has promised him more, and Giroud said: “Every player is a competitor and wants to be on the pitch to play his part. When the gaffer gives me opportunities I try to do that – keep going and keep believing.”
