IN GOD’S HANDS

A sad farewell to football’s eternal genius

-

DIEGO MARADONA – one of the greatest footballers ever seen – has died aged 60.

His brilliance won Argentina the World Cup in 1986 and delivered Napoli two Italian titles.

Here, he will be remembered for the 1986 World Cup, when he dribbled from halfway to score one of the greatest World Cup goals against England.

But that was after rising above goalkeeper Peter Shilton to punch the ball into the net, a goal Maradona dubbed ‘ The Hand of God’.

Shilton refused to forgive him, but Gary Lineker, who scored in the 2- 1 defeat, said: “By some distance the best player of my generation and arguably the greatest of all time.

“Hopefully he’ll finally find some comfort in the hands of

God.”
