WIN TEA WITH CROWN STARS

- By Michael Knowles Security Correspondent

THE director of The Crown has urged Daily Express readers to help Afghan families ripped apart by conflict.

From today readers can enter a £ 5 prize draw to meet with two of the show’s biggest stars – Emma Corrin, who plays Diana, and Prince Charles actor Josh O’Connor.

The Netflix hit’s boss, Ben Caron, said the families supported by War Child UK – which the Daily Express is partnering in our Torn From Home campaign – have endured “things no family should”.

Vanessa Kirby, Princess Margaret in The Crown’s first two series, said public support will give Afghan children “real hope for a safer and more secure future”. The Express has heard harrowing tales of youngsters being tortured and abused after leaving home in Iran for work.

Today, War Child UK is launching a series of exclusive prize draws, including high tea with Emma and Josh, lunch with Vanessa, a vinyl copy of War Child’s landmark record Help, signed by rock star Paul Weller and a signed T- shirt worn on stage by Vaccines lead singer Justin Young.

Director Ben said: “Emma Corrin and Josh O’Connor. Diana and Charles. The Crown. You know them.

You love them. Now you have a chance to meet them. Not only that, you get to sit down with this talented and down- to- earth pair for afternoon tea, in support of War Child UK.

“I saw the work War Child do first hand when I visited their programme in Iraq last year.

“It was a sobering, eye- opening experience, which left me feeling inspired by what they are doing to support so many children and families living in conflict.

“It’s a real pleasure to be supporting War Child UK’s prize draw, whilst enabling all Crown fans out there the opportunity to meet two of our supremely talented cast”.

Once the children are deported from Iran to the Afghan border, War Child staff take them to a rescue centre where they can remain as family is tracked down.

Vanessa, a War Child ambassador, added until February 18, donations will be matched by the Government, “giving children real hope for a safer and more secure future”.
