Giovanni: I want to be first all- male dance pairing... with Piers Morgan
STRICTLY pro Giovanni Pernice wants to trip the light fantastic with Piers Morgan in the first all- male pairing – so he can “destroy his confidence”.
Giovanni, 30, who is dancing with the motormouth’s Good Morning Britain workmate Ranvir Singh this year, already has his eye on the 2021 series.
He said: “I would love to be in the first all- male partnership with Piers. I would destroy his confidence in a week.
“In a week we will realise, ‘ Who’s this man? What is that? Is it really Piers?’.
“I would love to dance with him, sexy Piers. I would love to get down with him on the dance floor. Let’s see what he’s really made of!”
Ranvir, 43, agrees that getting Piers into the ballroom is a great idea.
She said: “I would love to see that! Actually, it’s quite an exciting prospect – who’s going to lift who?”
Two years ago Piers was rumoured to be among celebrities being lined up for the contest, leading his on- off pal Lord Alan Sugar to pledge £ 25,000 for charity if he signed up.
Lord Sugar then pledged a further £ 25,000 if the breakfast show host made it past week five of the BBC contest, describing him as “agile as a pregnant donkey”.
Piers said he would take part on condition his BBC Breakfast rival Dan Walker also signed up.
It never happened although Piers and Strictly pro Anton Du Beke donned sparkly jackets for an all- male dance around the GMB studio.
Piers also cut a rug on his own show with former head judge Len Goodman in 2016 after he announced he was leaving Strictly.
Until Giovanni’s dream comes true, he and Ranvir are rehearsing their Viennese waltz to She Used To Be Mine, from the show Waitress, for Strictly’s musicals week quarter- finals.
They have work to do after plunging from their peak at the top of the leaderboard in week three to fifth last weekend.
Bookies’ favourites Bill Bailey and Oti Mabuse will be tackling the Argentine Tango to Phantom Of The Opera, while JJ Chalmers and Amy Dowden perform a Charleston to Chitty Chitty Bang Bang.
Maisie Smith and Gorka Marquez are jiving to Little Shop Of Horrors.
