Trump will soon face his day of reckoning
ACROSS the Atlantic the days drag by until January 20 when, unless the sky falls in, the world will watch the inauguration of President Joe Biden – if he can remember to be there.
And then? Well, when any US president is in office he is immune from a whole range of legal charges. There are a few with which he can still be indicted but most accusations are in suspension. Minutes after the inauguration of his successor he reverts to being an ordinary citizen.
Could it possibly be that a whole quiver full of legal arrows are awaiting Donald Trump?
There are dark rumours of personal lawsuits, tax evasion charges, financial skulduggery and so forth.
Could it be that his manic desperation not to go is a bit more than mere vanity, that on January 21 he will have legal arrows sticking out all over him like Saint Sebastian?
Well, he always claimed he was a martyr.
