KATE Garraway has revealed Sir Elton John has been supporting her while her husband battles Covid- 19 in hospital.

The Good Morning Britain and Smooth FM presenter, 53, said the singing legend, 73, had been in touch after Derek Draper, 53, was admitted to hospital back in March with the virus.

She also said she had even turned to playing Sir Elton’s hits to her husband as he lay unresponsive.

In an interview with Woman & Home, Kate said: “One of the artists that we play a lot on Smooth is Sir Elton John.

“I love Step Into Christmas. And it feels particularly special this year because he’s been so personally kind to me about the situation with Derek and we’ve been playing Elton’s music to Derek while he’s been in hospital.”

Derek remains in intensive care after being diagnosed with Covid in the spring.
