Thompson Hollywood is set to be the rising hotel star in La La Land when it makes its debut in spring.

Lying just north of Sunset Boulevard, with the backdrop of the Hollywood Hills, London interior designer Tara Bernerd has taken inspiration from Tinseltown’s old- school glamour.

The 190- room luxury boutique hotel aims to be one of LA’s most sophisticated destinations. Expect a world- class restaurant, pool deck and rooftop terrace.

Slated for a spring opening will be Fairmont’s first hotel in Ireland, Carton House in Maynooth County Kildare, just 30 minutes away from Dublin.

The 18th- century manor is Fairmont’s oldest property in its global collection. Its 165 bedrooms and suites have been given a luxury redesign befitting the original home of the aristocratic FitzGerald family. There have been illustrious guests too, including Grace Kelly and Queen Victoria, whose bedroom, the Chinese Boudoir, can be viewed by guests.

The Morrison Room has been transformed into a fine- dining restaurant and the old kitchens are Kathleen’s Kitchen, offering comfort food, while new bar The Courtyard will serve cocktails.

Set in 1,100 acres of parkland, the estate is a perfect setting for archery, falconry and fishing, along with five miles of cycling trails and walks. And golfing fans can tee off at two 18- hole championship golf courses.
