Lockdown quiz game is a £ 1m hit for dads

- By Jessica Frank- Keyes

TWO dads who bonded at the school gates have invented a hit board game that brings families together for a virtual quiz.

Fast- paced trivia challenge Outsmarted! has already pulled in internet sales of nearly £ 1million for creators Stuart Nice, 46, and Paul Davis, 55.

Stuart, who previously developed computer game 3D Pets, said: “We get hundreds of messages from people who want a copy, saying things like, ‘ My Christmas will be wrecked without this game’.”

The pair, from Kent, met in 2018 and became firm friends – even holidaying together – before discussing ideas for a board game in 2019. But they only touted for crowdfunding investment three months ago. Hoping for £ 20,000, they raised £ 45,000 on their first day and a total of £ 195,046 after a month.

The concept uses app- based technology, which allows people to view the board and answer any one of the 3,000 interactive questions on their mobile phones, tablets or televisions.

Stuart, who also brought his retired computer programmer dad Kevin, 67, out of retirement to help on the project, added: “We couldn’t be prouder or happier.”
