STURGEON’S OFF THE RAILS WITH ROYAL SNITTINESS

-

THIS WEEK we saw the spite and small- mindedness of Nicola Sturgeon writ large with her ungracious and obvious disapproval of Wills and Kate’s visit to Scotland.

The couple had taken the royal train

( to avoid disrupting cities) to thank NHS staff for going above and beyond the call of duty during the pandemic.

But Sturgeon’s suggestion was that the visit broke the rules. Really? Because Sturgeon did exactly what Wills and Kate did – she left her home to go and thank NHS staff too. So less of the hypocrisy.

Sturgeon doesn’t like the monarchy. But she’s too gutless to say so outright because she knows whole swathes of Scots love the royals.

However, she also knows that many members of the SNP are republicans who hate the monarchy, and this week her snittiness about the royal visit was pandering to those people whose political support she needs. Never more so than this week when she was accused of deliberately misleading Parliament over complaints about Alex Salmond.

Her attitude to the royal visit was never about the safety of the Scottish people; it was about protecting herself and her job.
