STRICTLY RANVIR’S LAST DANCE
RANVIR Singh left Strictly last night as reality star Jamie Laing survived a fourth dance- off to make it into the final.
The Good Morning Britain political presenter, 43, and professional Giovanni Pernice performed a waltz, while Jamie, 32, and partner Karen Hauer opted for a salsa in the semifinal showdown.
Judges Craig Revel Horwood and Motsi Mabuse split their votes, so the final decision was left to Shirley Ballas.
She said: “This is very difficult because I’ve grown to love both couples.
I’m getting quite emotional now.
“There was musicality, determination and conviction from both teams – they just gave their all.
“But I just feel that one couple had a little more determination, a little bit more ‘ I’m not leaving without that trophy’ and with that in mind I’m saving Jamie and Karen.”
Afterwards single Ranvir, who is rumoured to have grown close to Giovanni, 30, said: “I’m just really sorry for him. He’s worked so hard and been in so many finals that I’m really sorry I couldn’t do it for you.
“I’m sad not to be in the final but I am glad that we’ve moved people to tears and the Argentine tango was an amazing moment.
“We’ve had some really fantastic memorable moments and I know I couldn’t have got this far without you.”
Giovanni told her: “I’m really hoping from this experience you just feel a better person because you truly are an amazing person inside and out. Yes, you’ve grown as a dancer but more I hope p y you feel happier in your life because you deserve it.” Jamie will now compete with EastEnder Maisie Smith, comedian Bill Bailey and musician HRVY in the final. Ladbrokes have HRVY – real name Harvey Leigh Cantwell – as the 5/ 4 favourite, with Bill at 11/ 8, Maisie 4/ 1 and Jamie a 20/ 1 outsider. Spokesman Alex Apati said: “Comedian Bill has led the way for a few weeks but it looks like HRVY will have the last laugh. It is the most open final in years.”
