Cook faces a tall order
STEVE COOK is ready for the unique challenge of facing Wycombe man- mountain Adebayo Akinfenwa.
Powerhouse striker Akinfenwa, 38, is unlike any opponent the defender faced during Bournemouth’s time in the Premier League.
Captain Cook said: “There are not many better at what he does. He poses huge threats. He’s an extremely strong lad.
“Hopefully we will make him work and I’m sure he won’t enjoy that.
“We can’t give them opportunities to cross the ball and him be on the end of it because there’s not that many better at what he does.
“It will be a different sort of test but one we’re looking forward to.”
Wycombe have picked up 11 points from 18 games since securing promotion to the second tier for the first time.
Cook, whose Cherries team are second in the table, added: “Wycombe are really difficult to
POWER PLAY: Akinfenwa will pose a huge threat in the air to Bournemouth play against. They’ve got some good results and pose a lot of threats. We know that we need to be on it mentally because if we’re not, we’ll get punished.”
Wycombe boss Gareth Ainsworth insists his side are not being outclassed this season.
The Chairboys are second from bottom with two wins but have been taken apart just once – when losing 5- 0 at Blackburn.
Ainsworth said: “We’re in the Championship, we’re still finding our feet. There will be about six teams in a scrap and we just need to be above three.
“It’s individual mistakes, it’s not teams carving us apart, and that’s really important for me.”
Striker Uche Ikpeazu is hoping to return after an ankle injury and Ainsworth said: “We need him.”
