SOCIAL media’s voice of calm Karol Sikora has been signed up by the Daily Express. Readers can now enjoy his soothing advice in these troubled times that have won him hundreds of thousands of followers on Twitter. If you need reassuring everything’s going to be all right read Professor Positivity.

A BAD year coming to a bad end. The pressure on Government to change course on the Christmas rules was immense and the emergence of this new strain made sticking to the original plan utterly impossible.

It couldn’t be concentrated in a worst place at a worst time. Thousands and thousands of people leave London to travel to every corner of the country at this time of the year, many already have and will continue to do so.

Some very scary numbers were mentioned in that press conference on Saturday about how easily this new variant spreads.

I understand it takes time to collect the data, but as much transparency and openness on this is essential.

If it’s as serious as the claims suggest, then the pictures of packed trains last night heading to every town and city in the country made even less sense.

My heart goes out to the people who will now be spending Christmas alone, locked up in tiny flats in London unable to see their loved ones.

It’s just a terrible situation. It’s also important to remember that support bubbles are still available in Tier 4.

My family are affected by this but I am acutely aware that our situation is a fortunate one. I live with my wife and granddaughter and our dog, so I will certainly not be alone this Christmas.

All the usual advice applies, but I want to put extra emphasis on if you’re feeling at all unwell then stay at home. Symptoms can vary, so be extremely cautious about this. A tough time. Being careful has never been so important.
