DOLLY Parton made a “call for kindness” as stars sent their good wishes for her 75th birthday.
The veteran country singer’s plea came in a message to fans marking the milestone on social media. “This year my birthday wish is a call for kindness,” the singer of hit Jolene posted on Instagram, sharing a glamorous black and white photograph of herself, inset.
“We can’t just hope for a brighter day, we have to work for a brighter day. Love too often gets buried in a world of hurt and fear. So today, January 19th, let’s get to unearthing love.”
She shared a longer version on her website, writing: “Love is more contagious than a virus.”
The message prompted a wealth of famous friends to praise Dolly’s sentiments and wish her many happy returns.
Actress Reese Witherspoon, 44, was one of the first to send their love, sharing a photo of the pair together and writing: “Your bright spirit and passion for helping others shines through in everything you do.”
Basic Instinct star Sharon Stone, 62, posted a photo of herself surrounded by Dolly merchandise and wished her well.
Billy Ray Cyrus, 59, shared a photo from one of the singer’s cameos on Hannah Montana, the Disney Channel show that made Dolly’s goddaughter Miley Cyrus, 28, famous. Miley herself also wished Dolly a happy birthday
The family of the late Kenny Rogers, who sang Islands In The Stream with Dolly, celebrated by sharing a black and white photo of the duo and writing: “Thanks for being incredible you!”
