I am 48 and still in love with Mr Men

- By Bradley Jolly

OBSESSED Michelle Martinez sits among her Mr Men memorabilia and admits: “I should have collected stamps.”

Michelle, 48, first loved Roger Hargreaves’s creation as a little girl.

Now she has more than 2,000 items, including a rare china tea set, two coin-operated fairground rides (£500 each), light switches, nightdress cases, cuddly toys and the original books.

Daughter Sophie, 19, and son Jake, 14, were dragged to scores of Mr Men events as youngsters and even made to wear Mr Men clothes.

The carer confessed yesterday: “The kids have never liked it.”

Most items are crammed into Michelle’s home in Waterlooville, Hampshire, and insured for £35,000.

She joked: “I think I do have a problem.”
