POUNDLAND enjoyed a rise in festive sales after being allowed to stay open during lockdown.

Owner Pepco Group said sales rose by 2.4 per cent over the three months to the end of December.

This was despite bosses choosing to temporarily close some of the shops, even though they were classed as essential retailers.

However, Pepco’s wider group sales fell by 2.1 per cent, due to enforced store closures across Europe. ●●Sales at sofa chain ScS have risen by 13.9 per cent to £182.3million in the past six months.
