Climbing a hill is good for View

- By Melissa Jones

LAKE VIEW LAD is thriving on a new training regime ahead of his bid to join the northerntrained roll of honour in the Cotswold Chase.

One Man, Grey Abbey, Cape Tribulation and Definitly Red have all captured the Cheltenham Trials Day feature – and Nick Alexander’s veteran is primed for a big run.

He had the upper hand over Santini and Native River, two of his potential rivals on Saturday, at Aintree in December.

The handicapper rates Lake View Lad, left, better than ever on that effort, although nine fences were taken out due to the low sun.

Alexander believes there was no fluke about it, with just two days to go until the Paddy Power-sponsored contest. “We’ve trained him differently which seems to have worked very well,” said Alexander.

“Using just the hill gallop for his work suits him. He should run a big race on Saturday.”
