SIX NATIONS WAITS ON FRANCE
Government over the spread of the UK strain of Covid-19 have already led to the cancellation of two rounds of European club competitions, and visitors to the country from outside the European Union must spend a week in quarantine.
Six Nations CEO Ben Morel remains confident they will “get the right authorisation” but added: “We are waiting for the final confirmation. Generally elite sport benefits from widespread exemptions because they have stringent protocols. We are seeking clarification on the specific rules about quarantine exemptions, which would look at entry from the UK, whether it is re-entry for the French teams or entry for the other unions.”
Morel gave assurances that if any match is called off the “primary focus” will be to reschedule rather than cancel.
PREMIERSHIP RUGBY say that just one member of staff and no players tested positive from the latest round of screening.
