ALAN’S TIP OF THE DAY:

If winds or hard frosts are forecast, drape horticultural fleece over almonds, peaches or nectarine trees, to protect early flower buds. Move camellias or tree peonies in pots into an enclosed porch. If left under cover they’ll flower earlier.
