Lidl posts £25m loss
LIDL’S UK arm made a £25.2million loss last year after investing in 51 new shops and a distribution centre in Scotland.
Its latest accounts, which cover the 12 months prior to the start of the pandemic, show it spent £654million on opening new stores and boosting its distribution network.
They add that a restructuring of Lidl GB helped push it into the red.
The previous year, the discount supermarket chain made a £19million profit.
The German-owned company generated UK sales of £6.9billion thanks to record numbers shopping at its stores.
