A lovely Kiwi sauvignon blanc with fabulous aromas (lemongrass included) and strong citrus and tropical fruit flavours including lime, gooseberries and passion fruit. Sheep Hill Shiraz Malbec (£6, 13%)

Fabulously good value, this South African red is a beautiful ruby colour with scents of dark berries on the nose and a hint of spice and saltiness on the palate. Simply delicious. Available from Sainsbury’s.

Les Vignes de BilaHaut Rouge (£11, 14%)

The Chapoutier family has long enjoyed a reputation for quality winemaking in the Rhône – but they’ve also created outstanding vineyards in Roussillon. From their Bila-Haut estate, this is a superbly fruity red with aromas of black cherry and a long, languorous finish.
