Tall order but we pushed boat out to save a giraffe
RESCUE workers stuck their necks out to save a giraffe from crocodileinfested waters in a scene straight out of the movie Madagascar.
They used a custom-made steel barge to free Lbarnoti stranded on a flooded Kenyan island.
Workers from Save Giraffes Now, Kenya Wildlife Service and Northern Rangelands Trust, guided the endangered Rothschild’s giraffe on to the craft and floated him to the mainland at Lake Baringo.
Lbarnoti is the third to be rescued but three others need help. David O’Connor, of Save Giraffes Now, said: “They are undergoing a silent extinction. Each one matters.”
