We’ll outgun Isis says UK force facing terror raids

- By Michael Knowles

BRITISH troops are ready to fight back in the most dangerous peacekeeping mission in the world.

Around 300 soldiers were deployed to Mali last month amid rising fears the African region could be the next bastion of Islamic extremists.

Lieutenant Colonel Thomas Robinson, said: “If someone targets us, or threatens the lives of my soldiers or the local population, then we will have no hesitation in using force to protect life.”

Troops face jihadi biker gangs who kidnap locals and intimidate them into terrorism, attacking security forces, French troops, towns and villages.

Lt Col Robinson said British troops will outgun Isis and Al Qaeda militants.

He added:“Anyone who decides to ambush us or try and take us on is going to come off second best.”

The UN mission is made up of forces from 56 countries.
