NEW VARIANT IS FOUND IN CALIFORNIA

FEARS of another coronavirus variant were raised last night after researchers said they had come across one in California.

Scientists in Los Angeles searching for signs that the UK variant had crossed into the US stumbled on a different one.

Nearly half of all new cases in southern California this month are due to the new mutant.

LA has seen a huge spike in mortality rates but it is not yet known if the variant is more deadly or vaccine resistant.
