MUSIC CAN EASE PAIN FOR HEART PATIENTS
LISTENING to music could significantly reduce physical pain and anxiety after major heart surgery, according to research.
It has no known risks or side effects, unlike medication, and could shorten time spent in hospital.
The “medicine music” was relaxing and free of strong rhythms and percussion.
It was linked to a reduction of four points on a scale of stress.
Dutch researchers said in online the journal Open Heart: “Clinicians should consider [music] for patients scheduled for major heart surgery.”
