Patrick’s reminder to Southgate

-

PATRICK BAMFORD was delighted to end his mini goal drought and put himself back in the England picture.

Three Lions manager Gareth Southgate was at the King Power Stadium to run the rule over players such as James Maddison, Harvey Barnes and Kalvin Phillips.

But it was Bamford who stole the show, having previously gone four games without a goal.

He said: “I’d love to say I don’t think about it but all strikers do. In the past couple of games I’ve been a little bit off it so it’s always nice to get a goal.”

Bamford’s assist for Jack Harrison drew praise from Leeds boss Marcelo Bielsa, above, who said: “What I value most is, for 3-1, he passed to Jack Harrison when a goalscorer would normally go for goal. He was very generous and thought more of the team.” Leicester’s Barnes said: “It’s a tough one to take. We know how Leeds play and it can end up as a basketball game.”
