We couldn’t find any freedom from the press admits Moyes

- James Nursey

DAVID MOYES says his West Ham deservedly lost to Liverpool but is hopeful they can rediscover their recent red-hot form.

The defeat wrecked a six-game winning streak in all competitions.

The Hammers trailed 3-0 before defender Craig Dawson grabbed a late consolation.

Manager Moyes, right, said: “Hopefully we can try and continue the second half of the season as well as we started the first half.

“We have been on a great run and the players have done really well.

“We came into the game really confident, feeling we had a chance to get something from the game and play well.

“But they played much better than us, so we have no complaints.

“Liverpool made it really difficult for us and we didn’t quite do the things we have been doing really well.

“I thought we gave the ball away and we had some key players who we needed to do that better.

“I would put it down to Liverpool’s pressing, they were very good and after us at every opportunity. But I also think that you have to show a bit of composure, and show what you can do – and we didn’t do that on enough occasions.”

The defeat leaves the Hammers fifth and Moyes does not hold out much hope of gatecrashing the top four. He added: “I think there are three or four teams in the Premier League who are better than all the rest. “Liverpool are in that category. We are not putting ourselves in that category.”
