PFA: DON’T PASS BUCK ON RACISM

THE PFA have hit out at Twitter and Facebook for claiming footballer­s should simply block racists.

It comes after Marcus Rashford, below, joined Manchester United team-mates Axel Tuanzebe and Anthony Martial – along with West Brom’s Romaine Sawyers and Chelsea’s Reece James – in being racially abused online in the past week. The Profession­al Footballer­s’ Associatio­n accused the social media companies of betraying the players it indicated it was ready to protect in meetings last year.

There is renewed determinat­ion in the Government to bring legislatio­n in by the end of the year to make companies such as Twitter and Facebook accountabl­e for abuse on their platforms. It would make
