10 OUT OF 10! Strictly Craig’s FAB-U-LOUS house
Strictly’s Craig selling rural mansion for £3.3m, with glitterballs included
FAB-U-LOUS and boasting its own glitter balls, the luxury home of Craig Revel Horwood has waltzed onto the market for a smooth £3,295,000.
The Strictly judge’s seven-acre countryside retreat has a long driveway, seven bedrooms and five bathrooms.
There is also a large swimming pool, gym, conservatory and three glitterball finials – covered in Swarovski crystals.
Craig, 56, has lived in Middlecot, Hants since he left London’s Camden seven years ago but has decided it is time for pastures new.
He admits the mansion’s glitzy interior may deter some potential buyers.
He said: “It is not going to suit everyone, but there are a lot of sparkles and I love it here. It is more like a London house in the middle of Hampshire.”
His favourite parts of the house, built in 2008, include the orangery and conservatory: “In the glass house, you are really sitting in the garden and you feel connected to that when the bifolds [doors] are open.
“You can sit in it quietly and observe nature and the animals, such as the deer.”
He has no regrets about having left London. He said: “I had no idea what it was going to be like moving to the countryside, in fact I was quite afraid of the dark having been used to city street lights.
“But now I wouldn’t give it up for the world and only go back to London for work. I’m really pleased I made the decision.”
Following his engagement to horticulturist Jonathan Myring, 35, the couple are planning to move closer to his fiancé’s family.
Entertaining
Craig added: “We want to move north, a similar distance from London, to be near Jonathan’s family. That is the only reason we are moving.”
He has added a chef’s kitchen and uses the existing one for entertaining.
Craig explained: “You come out into the vol-au-vent kitchen. If you have a dinner party and you want to prep everything, it is good to have the second kitchen area.”
The television star revealed that his favourite dinner party guests, pre-lockdown, were his oldest friends from London who did not travel to the countryside for just one day, but stayed for a week as they considered their visit to be a holiday.
He had considered setting up a vineyard at the property, but then the pandemic struck.
He said: “We couldn’t get hold of the vines. I don’t have the same amount of land in the new property, which has two acres rather than the seven that we have now, so we will need to look at buying additional land.
“We had the soil tested here. It is a Champagne area and the land is on an incline. It is perfect for that.”
The dance aficionado admitted that it will be difficult to leave the home, but he is ready to start a new chapter in life with Jonathan.
Craig added: “I have absolutely loved living here and being part of Hampshire.
“I shall miss all the neighbours, who are fantastic and you don’t often get that. It will be a difficult house to give up as I have totally fallen in love with it.
“It is a new adventure and we are now going to start our married lives together in a new place near [Jonathan’s] family.
“It will be so nice to share our lives together a bit more.”
