Family not sure if Tiger will return to golf

- By Christopher Bucktin US Editor

THE family of Tiger Woods do not know if he will ever play golf again, according to a friend.

Pete McDaniel said he spoke to the star’s mother Kultida after Tuesday’s accident.

The golfer’s friend said she told him the family were “relieved more than anything else”, but uncertain what lies ahead.

Mr McDaniel said: “He will listen to his body and to his doctors. He’s learned to do that, he’s matured.

“There was a time when he didn’t, you know, he would push it and push it, but he’s gotten older and wiser, fortunately. It’s a whole different Tiger Woods, and he’s proven his greatness. He is so mentally tough that he will find a silver lining in this. And it will push him to come all the way back.

“And if there are any naysayers out there, he uses them as motivation.

“I’ve already heard them saying, ‘He’s done, he can’t come back from this’. Keep saying that, that benefits Tiger.” Police said no charges would be brought against Woods after Tuesday’s car crash.

Meanwhile, Los Angeles County Sheriff Alex Villanueva said: “At the hospital he had no recollection of the crash itself.” Sheriff’s Deputy Carlos Gonzalez, who was first on the scene, added: “I don’t think he was aware of how gravely he was injured at the time. It could be adrenaline, it could’ve been shock.

“I don’t know if he had time to assess his injuries.”

He said he did not see any signs of impairment which is why no blood test was performed onWoods, who is still in hospital recovering from extensive surgery to his leg.

The 45-year-old reportedly hit a raised central reservation, smashed through a street sign, hit a tree and then flipped his SUV several times.
