In toon... Kate and Ben add voices for Tom and Jerry film

- By Jan Disley

GOOD Morning Britain hosts Kate Garraway and Ben Shephard have landed jumbo roles – as cartoon elephants in the new Tom and Jerry film.

The presenting pair have been recording their lines for the animation starring the legendary cat and mouse adversaries.

They voice a pair of show-stopping elephants who have to escort guests to a high-profile wedding ceremony.

Kate, 53, was all giggles as she admitted the cameo part is “made for her”.

She said: “We are there to be elegant and carry in the stars who are getting married. Unfortunately, it all goes horribly wrong.

“I loved Tom and Jerry when I was a kid. I was always on the side of Tom because I love cats and I always thought Jerry was taking the mick a little bit.”

Her co-host Ben, 46, said: “Suggestions that we’ve been typecast are harsh but probably fair.

“There’s an inner elephant in both of us. What a thrill though. Tom

and Jerry is such a hugely important part of my life and Kate’s life as kids growing up and watching it.

“So the fact they’re bringing it to the big screen...I initially was really nervous because I’m so fond of Tom and Jerry.

“But watching what they’ve done is amazing.”

A clip of the hosts in action appeared on yesterday’s GMB. The film,

due to open in May, features a mixture of live action and animation.

Ben and Kate are joined by stars Chloe Grace Moretz, Michael Pena and Catastrophe funnyman Rob Delaney telling how Hanna Barbera’s furry foes first meet.

Kick-Ass actress Chloe, 24, plays Kayla, a girl who teams up with Tom to stop Jerry once and for all.
