Swans in Ayew quarantine poser

-

ANDRE AYEW could miss three games in Swansea’s push for promotion if they allow the key striker to go and play for Ghana.

Ayew, right, scored twice in a 2-1 win over Middlesbrough to take his season’s goal tally to 13.

But the Ghana captain could be in quarantine for 10 days if his club allow him to play in an African Cup of Nations qualifier in South Africa.

Swansea boss Steve Cooper said: “There’ve been Champions League games moved because of Covid restrictions. This is not just about Andre and Swansea.”

Max Aarons is making a name for himself as he lines up a second Championship winners’ medal in three seasons.

And the Norwich full-back wants people to know it’s Air-ons not Arr-ons. Teemu Pukki’s brace and a Todd Cantwell strike in a 3-0 win over Luton kept the Canaries 10 points clear at the top.

Barnsley’s Daryl Dike was labelled the new Romelu Lukaku after scoring in the 1-0 win over Birmingham.

The striker signed on loan from Orlando City last month made it three goals in four games while Barnsley have won all seven league games in which he has played. Team-mate Jordan Williams said: “The goal was unbelievable. “He’s similar to Lukaku, who also has a rocket of a right foot.”

Reading boss Veljko Paunovic insists his team are playing better than the side that took 22 points from 24 at the start of the campaign. The Royals hit 60 points in a 3-0 win over Sheffield Wednesday, and Paunovic said: “It speaks volumes that we are six points off second place.”
