Why the big deal over covID cards?

-

THE ARGUMENTS about Covid passports continue, but here’s the thing I have never understood. Why so many people get upset about having an ID card? Express readers seem to agree with me as in our poll, 33 per cent thought Covid passports are a good idea while only 18 per cent were against them.

Yes, they will probably be quite easy to counterfeit and yes, anybody who has had the jab will know that you get a card afterwards anyway. But I still don’t see the problem.

Let’s face it, we’ve already got ID cards – from driving licences and passports to credit cards and workplace permits. I’ve long thought national ID cards are a great idea so you don’t have to keep looking for some form of identification.

The other day I took an Amazon delivery of some alcohol. I have to admit, it made my day when the delivery person asked for some ID. When I asked why, he said he had to have proof I was over 18.

It took me about five minutes to find some kind of ID, during which I said to the delivery person, “Do I look under 18?” He told me that wasn’t the point. So, Amazon, thank you. Anyway, I think a national ID card is a good idea. Not only would it make our lives easier, but it would probably make it easier to find those people who are living here illegally.

So can everyone who goes on about a “vaccine passport” taking away their human rights and privacy, please shut up. An ID card is not going to change what they know about us, and will make life easier. Plus, the only people it’s really going to affect are those with something to hide.
